Microsoft Announces New Products and Services Aimed at Educators and Students

Windows 10 S is now FREE for schools on any compatible Windows device

(Redmond, WA, Wednesday, May 3, 2017) – Microsoft has announced the company’s biggest investment in Education to date. At an event in New York, the company unveiled a suite of products inspired by teachers and students. The new tools and experiences are designed to spark creativity and collaboration to help prepare today’s student for the workplace of tomorrow.

The new tool’s and experiences include a new version of Windows – Windows 10 S – which is available on affordable devices and easy to deploy with Intune for Education. Microsoft’s newest member of the Surface family, Surface laptop, is a higher end device created to take students through the lifecycle of their education by meeting their performance needs.

The company is also introducing a new line of affordable laptops, starting at $229 that run Windows 10 S and are available for purchase beginning this summer.

The popular video game Minecraft is also introducing a new program with its Code Builder Minecraft Education Edition. Microsoft is betting that combining the open worlds of Minecraft with popular learn-to-code platforms will help students prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.
