Ethan Brown, Founder and CEO of Beyond Meat

Stations, the following is a news announcement. Suggested lead in 3, 2, 1…

(INTRO)

Meat production worldwide has doubled in the last 20 years and is expected to double again by 2050. This is bad news for the environment because meat production requires a massive amount of global resources. According to the Environmental Defense Fund, if every American skipped one meal of chicken per week, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off U.S. roads.

Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat, describes health and environmental benefits for reducing meat consumption.

(BROWN)

OFTEN WHEN PEOPLE THINK OF PLANT-BASED PROTEIN, THEY EXPECT IT TO BE HEALTHY, BUT THEY WORRY ABOUT TASTE.  LIKE MEAT, WE DELIVER PROTEIN AND DELICIOUS TASTE, BUT WITHOUT CHOLESTEROL OR SATURATED FATS.  AND BECAUSE OUR PROTEIN IS PLANT-BASED, IT HAS A LOWER ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT – SO FEWER CARBON EMISSIONS AND LESS LAND TO GROW CROPS.
