(Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Wednesday, October 24, 2018) – More than ten thousand Americans are turning sixty-five every day and the window is now open for them to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. In Florida, well-known companies are now competing with several new start-ups that are taking a new approach to delivering health insurance to the Sunshine state’s large senior population. One such company is Devoted Health, which bills itself as a next-generation Medicare Advantage plan.

The company is beginning to enroll members across eight counties in south and central Florida and it recently received three-hundred million dollars in new capital to deliver on its mission to dramatically improve health care for seniors by caring for every member like family.

DJ Patil, head of technology, explains how.

SOUNDBITE #1:

WITH OUR LATEST FUNDING, WE’RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO GROW A WORLD-CLASS TEAM AND BUILD OUT OUR TECHNOLOGY AND OPERATIONS. FOR OUR MEMBERS, THIS MEANS ACCESS TO THE MOST TRUSTED DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS, AND THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER CONSISTENT AND DEPENDABLE CARE AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME, WITH WARMTH, COMPASSION, AND LOVE.

SOUNDBITE #2:

THE OVERALL PATIENT EXPERIENCE IN HEALTH CARE IS JUST TOO CONFUSING AND IMPERSONAL, SO WE’RE STARTING FROM A CLEAN SHEET OF PAPER AND BUILDING WHAT WE CALL A ‘PAYVIDOR’ – IT’S A COMBINATION OF BOTH BEING A ‘PAYOR’ AND ‘PROVIDER’ OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES. ITS FUNDAMENTALLY A CHANGE IN HOW HEALTH CARE FOR SENIORS IS BOTH FINANCED AND DELIVERED – AND REALLY, A NEW MODEL WHERE THE MISSION IS TO TAKE CARE OF EVERY MEMBER LIKE THEY WERE LITERALLY OUR OWN FAMILY.
