(Redmond, WA, Tuesday, January 9, 2018) – Microsoft and their partners are showing more innovation than ever before in the big areas of computing, and at CES they’re sharing what they believe will be the top computing innovation trends in the New Year.

Here’s the trends they’re seeing:

  • Always Connected PCs
Consumers are always mobile—moving between work, school, home, the coffee shop, and more.  Just like their phones, users need their PCs to be instantly on, always connected, and delivering incredible battery life. This is why Microsoft is introducing profound leaps forward in battery life and freedom from connectivity limitations with new always connected PCs such as the new Lenovo Miix 630 and HP Envy X2.
  • A PC for Everyone – the Windows Ecosystem Offers the Widest Range of Devices
PCs are increasingly a lifestyle statement. Consumers today want beautiful devices that fit their style and budget – and they desire choice. In total the Windows ecosystem has hundreds of devices available for consumers today under the $1000 mark, with many of them costing half that including the Acer Spin 1, priced at just $299.  Device makers are embracing their creative spirit with machines in new colors and styles, along with inking and touch in new sizes and ultra-light weight computers.
  • The Rise of Smart Everything – AI and Intelligence Everywhere
Microsoft believes in the power of artificial intelligence to help people get information, assist with more complex needs and is continuing to work on integrating AI across their product lines.  To fully embrace this shift, Microsoft and its partners continue to think of innovative ways to infuse machine learning and intelligence into everything for consumers including creations such as the Harmon Kardon Invoke Speaker.
  • Mixed Realty
Like many, Microsoft believes that mixed reality, including augmented reality, virtual reality and everything in between – represents the next frontier of computing. Approachable price points, new hardware designed for comfort and easy set up – and that run amazing experiences on new Windows 10 PC – are all available to consumers this year. Microsoft is focused on bringing the innovation of MR to manufacturing, architecture/engineering, healthcare, defense, retail and education industries.
  • Gaming
Every aspect of the gaming experience is evolving at an incredible pace. Software is faster and smarter, supporting experiences that are increasingly in demand from gamers such as more social gaming and consumption of gaming videos, which is higher than ever before. Microsoft sees this extend to PC gaming including the ASUS ROG Chimera (G703) MR Ultra Badged and the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming Laptop.
