Airline Passengers, Including Millennials, Are Switching Airlines to Use Reliable Wi-Fi They Expect

Bill Kircos, Vice President, Honeywell Aerospace

(Phoenix, AZ, Tuesday, July 12, 2016) A new survey of airline passengers by Honeywell, reveals more than increased frustration with current in-flight Wi-Fi offerings compared to 2014. Now passengers are ready to switch airlines to use reliable Wi-Fi they expect.

Travelers have made it clear they expect consistent, faster in-flight connections, and this survey reveals key reasons why airlines must act quickly to deliver this service or risk losing business.

Some of the highlights from the survey include:

  • When travelling, passengers expect a reliable connection to stay in touch with their friends and family, get work done or be entertained. If that means selecting another airline compared to their preferred choice, they will do it;
  • With the rise in personal electronic devices, consumers expect reliable connectivity anywhere, including while in flight; and
  • If airlines want to earn the business and loyalty of millennials who are the largest growing consumer segment, they must offer the best global in-flight Wi-Fi service.
