In 2017, 143 Million U.S. Consumers Were Victims of Cybercrime

(Washington, DC, Tuesday, October 9, 2018) – Every year, millions of American consumers fall victim to cybercrime. According to the 2017 Norton Cyber Security Insights Report, 143 million U.S. consumers were victims of cybercrime – more than half of the country’s adult online population – with losses totaling nearly $19.5 billion.

October is National Cybersecurity Month—an opportunity to raise awareness about cybercrimes and arm consumers with information to protect themselves. The American Bankers Association is a champion of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and is joining banks across the country to educate consumers.
